COESO
Connecting research and society
About the project
The COESO project is an effort to build a bridge for collaboration between the European social sciences and humanities community and the citizen science community.
COESO has fostered the growth of citizen science in the social sciences and humanities through collaboration between European academia and the citizen science community.
The project has analysed and described the barriers that have traditionally held back citizen science in the social sciences and humanities, mainly funding and a lack of methods for putting it into practice, and has worked to create shared working spaces for everyone involved.
It has also worked to understand the impact of citizen science methods on academic research in the social sciences and humanities.
Ten pilot projects have tested the tools provided during the project to bring citizen science to fields such as philosophy, dance, journalism and history, among others.
COESO has also produced a series of journalistic articles and its own podcast, and has documented the activity of its pilots extensively to gauge their reach within the academic and citizen science communities across Europe.
