EU-Citizen.Science

The European platform for sharing citizen science projects, resources and experiences

About the project

EU-Citizen.Science was a European project to build the European citizen science platform. Its kick-off meeting took place in Berlin on 20 February 2019.

The consortium was made up of 14 partners and 9 third parties representing 14 European Union countries. In Spain, the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, FECYT and Fundación Ibercivis took part.

Project objectives

  • Build a community around citizen science projects across Europe.
  • Consolidate structures for sharing information and data between projects.
  • Explore new approaches to participatory governance and strengthen the links between citizen science and EU policy.

The role of Ibercivis

Ibercivis took part as a technical partner, alongside FECYT and the Ministry. Its task was to build a platform bringing together citizen science projects from all over Europe. To do so, it gathered the information needed to identify the features the platform should have.

The platform was designed to share experiences and successful strategies, integrate other existing platforms and make all the data collected openly accessible to everyone.
