On 21 and 22 September, Fundación Ibercivis will take part in the conference organised by the Oficina Neutral City-Uni Lab, aimed at driving urban climate innovation actions and advancing the city’s mission towards climate neutrality.
The event seeks to open a debate on the future of climate change in cities and to create a space for dialogue and collaboration among the university’s research groups, with a citizen science approach that also involves different sectors of society.
Ibercivis will take part in this conference with Maite Pelacho, speaker and coordinator of the Citizen Science Observatory, who will address the role of social participation in urban climate innovation processes.
The conference stems from the agreement signed by Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the Ayuntamiento de Madrid to develop joint urban climate innovation actions, in line with the city’s mission towards climate neutrality. Within this framework, the Oficina Neutral City-Uni Lab has organised an event focused on reflecting on the challenges climate change poses in urban settings and on the responses that research and citizens can build together.
The main goal is to create a space for dialogue among the university’s different research groups, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration around the city’s climate challenges. This space is designed with a citizen science approach, seeking to involve civil society and different social groups in the debate and in the design of possible solutions, understanding social participation as a necessary part of innovation and climate transition processes.
