La Fundación Ibercivis participa en la Future Innovators Summit del festival Ars Electronica en Austria.

Fermín Serrano, executive director of the Ibercivis Foundation, was chosen among many young catalysts for change at the renowned festival.

Ars Electonica is one of the most famous festivals in the world and on the cutting edge with 35 years experience. It is held in the Austrian city of Linz.

The 2014 “Ars Electronica Festival” is set for September 4-8.This year’s theme is “C … what it takes to change,” an inquiry into the prerequisites and framework conditions necessary to enable social innovation and to renew the emerging impacts on the future. The focus will be on art as a catalyst. This year, the Future Innovators Summit has been created , it is a forum for interaction in which twenty five young people will be convening for four days to form a task force for change.

Their numbers include: seasoned experts and young entrepreneurs, activists, engineers, scientists and—obviously, since it’s at Ars Electronica—artists and designers. They’ll be aided by senior mentors one of whom is Rober Madelin, Director General of DG-CONNECT in Brussels, the other is Hiroshi Ishii from MIT Media Lab in Boston.

One of these young people will be Fermín Serrano, BIFI researcher at the University of Zaragoza. He is responsible for Ibercivis Foundation, which promotes citizen science and open participation through new technology. One of the projects that will be presented is collective music intelligence created during the Sonar festival in Barcelona last June. This musical science experiment has been launched. We are expecting the participation of all the stakeholders, without needing to be in Linz for the festival. They will have the posibility to create musical patterns from a set of audio sequences that you will find on the web. No musical knowledge is required. Participation will be open until Sunday, September 7th at 21.

The Future Innovators Summit is organized jointly by Ars Electronica, the Japanese agency Hakuhodo and ITU UN agency.
