( EN) Socientize project in ESOF Copenhague

Euroscience Open Forum 2014 Copenhagen is designed as an open platform for debating science and as a showcase for European and global research at all levels. ESOF2014 will be a unique opportunity for leading scientists, young researchers, students, entrepreneurs, policymakers, journalists and the general public to discuss new discoveries and debate the direction that research is taking in all the sciences.

The project will attend Euroscience Open Forum 2014 in the EC stand from sunday 23 to thursday 26 june, offering visitors info on the project, experiments, an White Paper of the Citizen Science in Europe. Various Socientize speechs will be held on diverse venues.

Socientize will present “Enabling the new way for the citizen science in Europe”, june 24th at 10.50 in Exhbition Stage, Tap 1. The SOCIENTIZE project coordinates all agents involved in the citizen science process, setting the basis for this new open science paradigm. The project will promote the usage of science infrastructures composed of dedicated and external resources, including professional and amateur scientists. SOCIENTIZE will set-up a network where infrastructure providers and researchers will recruit volunteers from a general public to perform science at home. Session requests ESOF access badge.

The other venue is the masterclass “Citizen engagement in Science, why, how and when” june 24th at 09:15 in Copenhague Business School, room Ks71. Engagement with European citizens is an important element of 21st century science but how to ensure this activity enhances research investigations & results, and delivers impact on our daily lives? 90-minute morning Master Classes packed full of ideas and case studies covering Citizen Science, social media channels and public science festivals are available free for all attending ESOF or studying in Copenhagen. Organised by EC funded project CommNet in collaboration with Copenhagen Business School. Open to all attending ESOF2014 and/or involved in research in Copenhagen but registration required. ESOF will be open Sunday 22 june 14 to 18, monday to Wednesday 23.25 june 08.30-18.00 and Thursday 26 june 08.30 to 11.30.
